Promoting health and well-being in the fight against cancer
To further our goal of promoting health and well-being in the fight against cancer, the Aleksandr Savchuk Cancer Charity organised sports and cultural event. The event included a chess tournament, sports demonstrations, dance performances, arts and crafts, games for children and their families.
Our aims were twofold. Firstly, to raise funds which were donated to purchase equipment for an oncology hospital in Odessa, Ukraine, and to support an art therapy initiative at CHPG. Secondly, to use sport and the arts to raise children’s awareness of the importance of health and well-being in cancer prevention.
The event was a huge success and thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, volunteers and the public we raised all of the funds.
The Aleksandr Savchuk Cancer Charity is proud to be a partner of the Palais de Tokyo in launching HAMO, a new space dedicated to cultural mediation, education, art therapy, and workshops. HAMO opened on September 16-17, 2023, during European Heritage Days. The 700 m² space offers workshops, meetings, and resource areas, welcoming diverse visitors, including individuals, families, and those experiencing exclusion or disabilities. Special attention is given to programs focused on well-being through art and mental health. HAMO seeks to address neurodiversity and the mental health challenges facing younger generations. This innovative facility reimagines how institutions engage with their audiences in a damaged world.
The dance performance “Océan” emphasizes the profound connection between humanity and the environment, especially the importance of sustainability. It highlights that by caring for the oceans, we are also taking care of the planet, our future, and the well-being of future generations. Curated by Taisiya Savchuk, the performance was designed by Atelier 26 and choreographed by Chiara Taviani, aiming to bring environmental values into an urban setting. The performance seeks to unify movement, surroundings, and music, creating an emotional experience that reflects the importance of harmony with nature. Through the synergy of dancers and the music of cellist Anna Hu, “Océan” brings awareness to environmental stewardship. It advocates for a sustainable lifestyle and encourages reflection on how our actions impact both the environment and global health. The performance ultimately inspires viewers to reimagine their role in preserving the planet through sustainable relationships and responsible living.
The Sirtaki performance extends the message of the “Océan” performance, focusing on the vital role of ocean health and sustainable living. This dance connects the past and the future, weaving together cultural heritage with the pressing need for environmental protection. The Mediterranean Sea, deeply rooted in Greek history and mythology, stands as a symbol of life and prosperity, illustrating humanity’s enduring link to the oceans. The energetic Sirtaki steps, reminiscent of traditional Greek celebrations, showcase the intersection of culture and marine conservation. Choreographed by Ananyan Ballet, the dance is performed by children, symbolizing the future of our planet. It serves as a powerful reminder that the choices we make today will shape the world passed down to the next generation. The performance inspires reflection on the responsibility we have to preserve both our cultural heritage and the health of our oceans.
