By harnessing the arts, we support individuals and society in overcoming challenges
Art is a powerful source of inspiration for our association, highlighting the transformative power of creativity in enhancing mental health and well-being. By harnessing the arts, we support individuals and society in overcoming challenges like illness, depression, and stress, promoting mental health awareness and prevention. Our art-based initiatives empower people of all ages, particularly children, to build confidence and embrace the joy of life. Explore how art therapy and creativity can make a difference, offering a holistic approach to mental health support and personal growth.
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, a significant number of children have been exposed to traumatic events. This exposure has had a significant impact on their mental health, leading to disorders such as anxiety, depression and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Research to assess and treat these disorders in children and adolescents is crucial.
In 2019, the WHO released a report titled ‘Health Evidence Network synthesis report 67’, which reviewed over 3000 studies. It concluded that ‘art positively impacts both mental and physical health’ across all age groups.
The WHO highlighted a ‘major role of the arts in the prevention of ill health, the promotion of health and the management and treatment of disease throughout the life course”.
In alignment with our mission to combat cancer and promote health and well-being, the Aleksandr Savchuk Cancer Charity organizes a variety of sports and cultural events throughout the year. These events aim to foster community spirit while addressing important health issues in innovative and engaging ways. Our events have included chess tournaments, sports demonstrations, dance performances, arts and crafts exhibitions, and interactive games for children and families. These diverse activities not only entertain but also serve as platforms for raising awareness about the critical role of health and wellness in cancer prevention.
Initiated by three women working at the intersection of art and science and the Milky Way Project brings together contemporary artists to establish links between the environment and global health.
